Why you need a proper Laptop sleeve?
To carry around your laptop or netbook you don’t absolutely have to have a laptop sleeve or a computer bag but it’s highly recommended. You could just as well put your computer into a plastic bag and travel like that, but risk of something happening to your precious laptop is too high to take when you can choose from so many nice computer bags. You can have a neoprene sleeve, a backpack or a handbag for your notebook or even a designer container it is entirely up to your liking, I personally prefer neoprene due to a few reasons. First of all, they are usually waterproof, so having a rain catch me 5 minutes before I get home is not an issue, my netbook isn’t going to float in my backpack and that gives a certain peace of mind. Second reason being that these neoprene containers are so cheap you could have two; one for weekdays and one for weekends. Third I already have a quite nice backpack so the neoprene version was an obvious addition to it even though it already had a laptop pouch. Protecting my comp against hits and water was top priority and that’s what it does perfectly.
10” Netbook Laptop case
Built Netbook Laptop Sleeve 7-10-Inch
This slightly odd looking bag comes from Built, built and geared towards protecting your 8-10 inches netbook. I really like the shape of the thing which basically buffs out small falls with its enforced corners. The other thing I really like about this netbook case is how the gals and lads over at Built put some fun back into computing with the vibrant colors and textures on the bag. Pulling one of these in the local coffé sure draws the looks, it’s not your average macbook sleeve. With a price tag a whisker under $20 it would make a perfect gift for my girlfriend if she wasn’t on such a hostile point of view about netbooks and she didn’t have a sleeve for her normal laptop already. I just like all the happy living flower design, proper zip and thick neoprene.
15” laptop sleeve
These are the ones you want to grab if you have one of the normal notebooks with 15.4-15.6 inches of screen size. This is the most popular size for laptops this is what you come across if you go to
any notebook shop. What I found to put these laptops is a true gem from networking and accessory company, Belkin. They’ve put together this geeky hexagonal design neoprene laptop bag in three different colors. Grey-ish pink-ish and black background versions are available of their Belkin 15.4-Inch Neoprene Pixilated Sleeve, I’d personally grab the black for the badass looks. It is made of three millimeter thick neoprene which makes it quite robust and rigid against normal circumstances. At the time of writing this article these computer bags are a tad cheaper than $19, I wouldn’t hesitate to grab one if I had one of the normal size notebooks.
17” – The big boys
Another Belkin product I would go for this time is for the big guys league. 17 inches laptops are not that common but people buy them nonetheless and if I was one of them I’d hate to get my new gamer notebook to be scratched the second day. Belkin Neoprene
Notebook Sleeve for 17-Inch Laptop does just that, it protects your laptop from scratches and weather. Simple looks, basic design but not everyone wants the fancy bag. As far as I’m concerned this bag is a pretty solid choice for $30. If it protects your laptop just once, that’s $30 well spent on a computer bag.
