Purchase an A3 Printer … Or something else

Well, there are its ups and downs, and like with everything else, there are a some points that need to be taken into consideration. Some people seem to go by the rule of “The bigger is better” but it’s not always the case. This article may help you find out if you’re the person who buys the A3 or goes with something else.

First of all, are you going to print in color? I know this has nothing to do with the size of the printer, but you’ll sure notice this feature on the price tag. There are nice monochrome a3 printers that get most of the job done beautifully.

Are you going to print a lot of pages? Teachers need to reproduce papers all the time. I know because both my parents are in the education system. They make the house look like a press at times. All the test papers and other kinds of educational material, they change the toner once in two months.

If you’re doing some mass reproduction or it’s going to be an equipment for a small office, a laser printer may be a better solution than an inkjet version. How does it come to black and white? Well monochrome a3 laser printers are cheap as chips so to speak, while color versions are going for a lot more.

If you want color prints too and A3 size is not an absolute must I suggest you choose an A4 inkjet printer. They’re cheap, they can print reasonably fast and they’re not awfully expensive to keep up either. Popular choice for home users and small offices. These are not for printing more than a couple dozen pages a day.

If you want A3, and don’t care for color mode all that much, get an A3 laser. I was able to buy one slightly used Brother A3 multifunction printer for $50 last month and I’m stoked. It prints like the wind, the product is top notch quality and for $50 it was a steal. These printers are the draft horses of these devices. Robust, durable and they don’t ask for much to eat. Last time I checked I could have the toner replaced for about $30-$40 once it’s out.

If you want color, and in A3, you’re either going to find out how deep your pocket is, or get an inkjet. Inkjet A3s are going for cheap and you will be well pleased by their performance too.

Not everyone wants the same printer, but if you can set what it is you’re after exactly, you’re going to be able to choose wisely. If you’re stuck on picking the exact model then I advise taking a quick look at both the website of Brother and Canon. Brother is making reasonably priced “value” products, while Canon is more or less the market leader.

If you want uncompromising quality and support, you buy a Canon but if I was the manager at a small office with a few computers laying around waiting to print, I’d check what is Xerox up to.
