You can lose data just as easily as anyone else, saying that you would never have to get anything back from a dead drive is delusional so I thought shedding some light on the importance of backing up your data would never hurt. Back up your data! I can’t stress this enough but probably when you see how much data recovery costs you won’t think twice about burning the first pics of your son on a dvd. Normal data rescue services can take up to 2-3 days in time, and depending on the damage occurred to the drive and the capacity prices can ramp up to a thousand bucks. Scary right? hdd without casingEmergency data recovery is done in less than 24 hours usually regardless of the cause of the problem, but be prepared to reach deep in your pocket, because reliable, fast and cheap services don’t grow on trees.

I can imagine though, that losing data from an important server costs way more than the expense to get it all back. Your personal 160 gb drive can cost $300 $500 to restore, but a server with a complicated RAID array of half a dozen drives can go as high as 15 grand. That’s why I’m stressing backup.

Turn off your computer to ensure no additional data is lost, or no drive gets damaged beyond repair either. Do not try to recover your data on your own though, because engineers can spot tinkering and tampering from a mile and can raise the fees by a good hundred dollars or deny recovery altogether. Cheapest is not always the best. On data loss first thing to do should be looking around for services in your local area, since it’s quicker to get a drive over the street than the country, isn’t it? Always try to find a company that tells you the price of the emergency data rescue upon evaluation, no need to add hurt to the wound with hidden fees.
