Are you in front of your computer quite a lot? Are you working on your laptop all the time? Do you often have it in your lap and bend over the keyboard while typing? Then you are putting yourself in some serious health risk. You probably don’t think this is a serious issue right now, but in a few years time, when back pain becomes unbearable you’ll give computer health safety a second thought.

There are ergonomic desks and chairs around and most probably you either have one or seen one in the supermarket while walking right past it, thinking you don’t need ergonomic stuff to be safe. Well, that train of thought is what causes the most problems for your health but it’s not too late to think again. Do you think you do everything for your optimal sitting position to ensure you won’t develop lower back pain and neck problems?

If you’re working at your desk using your laptop laying flat, I think I’ve found a solution to help lower the risk of back-problems caused by improper sitting position. A laptop computer stand, might sound however simple, eliminates one of the most common causes of neck and lower back pain by simply raising the screen of the notebook to correct vision height.

Laptop Computer StandThere are different makes and kinds but there is one thing they have in common and that is making the laptop monitor to be held in proper height so when looking at it you don’t have to bend and hang your head looking at a point 15 inches below normal position.

This solution sounds too easy to make a difference, but it does in two ways. By raising the laptop monitor where you can easily see it with a straight back it allows your spine to take a more natural S shape instead of the usual C shape programmer backs tend to look like. The second aspect isn’t helping you with your health but your laptop will thank you for it.

By lifting its back off from the desk the notebook can breathe more easily avoiding overheating problems to break the device before time.

There are types that are portable, so you can fold them and when work needs to be done you just unfold them, put the laptop on top, keyboard on bottom panel and it’s all set. These stands also make you use external keyboard and mouse, that are usually more ergonomically designed. It means that instead of the heavily stuffed notebook keyboard you can type on a more spacious USB desktop keyboard and instead of the small touchpad you can use a desktop mouse.

There are laptop bags that are able to hold everything for you, laptop stand, keyboard, laptop, mouse and all the cables you may ever need. A typical portable laptop stand rages from $30 to $60, simpler models may be found for $20-$30.
