A quality pc case is not very hard to choose, but of course not everyone knows how to do it.

There are different shapes and sizes of computer cases, therefore the first thing to do is to choose one that fits the requirements. Checking the form factor of the motherboard is always advisable, though BTX cases are getting extinct sooner or later, there are still cases that take mini ITX boards, or mATX only. You’ll most probably have an ATX board but there is no way telling before actually grabbing the box or checking on the net looking for its model number.

Number of hard drives or their external physical size can be a factor in the equation so can your optical drives. If you’re sure everything will fit, it’s time to move on to picking the case you fancy. There are several hundreds of different computer cases, popping in a computer show is a great way of picking a pc case. Looking at the cases in person is very important for some people, these are the guys who go in and point at a house and buy it right away.

I would rather suggest you to check out manufacturer websites first as they tend to list all their products and let you buy those online, even with a few percents off. There are quite a handful brands out there so you should be aware of the ones that make quality computer cases. Touching the towers is the easy way of telling what quality level it is on, just take a look inside and see if there are any sharp edges around PCI slots or drive bays. Lifting the case is another way of doing that, heavy cases usually are made of more material, better alloys, and that is a sure-fire way to avoid wobbling cases that flip-flop like balloons in a hurricane even if it’s just one 12cm fan blowing at their back.

Lian-li is one of the premium brands, basically any of their models is a safe bet, don’t forget to blink if you see some $200 to $500 price tag on them. Casetek has been a decent manufacturer for years, I don’t have to check their cases to sleep well after I’ve recommended one. Chieftec makes some great cheap pc cases, and though the quality is superb every single time, some of their products are more geared towards server environment and not really lookers. Their dragon series is a point to start.
