Printers that can be hooked up with the network without the need to actually connect it to a computer first. These devices have become an invaluable part of the small business office, probably even a home network with a few laptops here and there. A network printer comes with a small embedded computer that doesn’t do much apart from acting like an entity on the network, and passing jobs to the printing device. It connects to your infrastructure either via an ethernet cable, or wirelessly users of the computers or the system administrator installs the printer on the computers and anyone who wants to print through it gets in a queue administrated by the little embedded chip in the printer. If noone else wants to have something printed, you’re in luck, the printer goes on completing your job and you can grab it in minutes.

Why do I love network printers

You click on the document, hit print and you grab the papers, isn’t that just straight forward. I like them because they actually lower costs of setting an office up, because this way there is no need for a dedicated printer server, that has to run 7/24 in order to be able to sort printing on the network. And it’s better than having one printer on every computer by miles. They’re a bit more expensive than regular ones, but it’s money well spent, as total cost of start goes down by actually having less devices to buy first.

Why do we absolutely need network printers

When you work with twenty colleagues in the same office and they are printing often, you need a network printer, not only because it lowers total cost, but because it is easier and more cost effective to maintain for the system administrator, it is also easier to replace on fault. Network printers have became the norm for offices and rightly so, they make one of the key aspects of office work; printing, just a bit easier and these small things have made our lives more tolerable, bit by bit.
