Part of the reason Bezos named the company Amazon is because it is a large, winding river with many tributaries and wildlife species. The company was set up to grow steadily and was able to withstand the drop off in Internet marketing companies that came in the late 1990’s to early 2000’s. Due to its high customer volume and steady growth, Amazon has also increased others business’s bottom lines. UPS and other shipping companies owe a lot to Amazon’s business.

This website has grown from its origins to include the sale of other materials other than books. Compact discs, movies on VHS and DVD, and cassettes are also featured items for sale. By expanding its cache of goods, Amazon has extended its reach to be more encompassing of all kinds of literary and cinematic works.

Jeff Bezos took his small business plan to Seattle and set up a small a company that has grown steadily into one of the backbones of the American economy. The company now spans the oceans as it has interfaces to sell with Asia and Europe alike as well as having their own in-house bulk email software. This company offers readers all over the globe to obtain the titles they desire. This business revolutionized the book selling business.
